We are at a mall today for our free day which we have every Friday! It is wonderful to have wifi and somewhat American food. Arielle, a boy who lives at Zion and is at the mall with us, just came up to me and he shows me a brown bag. I look inside and see a little yellow chick. He just bought a chicken in the mall… only in Honduras. At lunch my teammate came back to our table with a whole tray of Burger King and the first thing he says to us is “ummm how do you say just a sandwich?”. Adjusting to a language barrier is somewhat challenging, but the relationships you form completely transcend language. Louis, is 14 and every day when I see him he says, “Sahmi mi amor!” (sami, my love).  We get plenty of love and lessons from the boys. Pouring love and life into them is amazing. Right now I am in a coffee shop playing with Anderson, a 7 year old boy, who came with us. He is beyond adorable. Yesterday, I taught him how to ride his bike. It’s absolutely amazing to see the love and joy in these kids knowing the incredibly harsh lives they had before coming to Zion’s Gate.

We found out about our ministry and what we will be doing for the rest of our time here. Tomorrow we are going swimming in the river and cliff jumping. This week my team of 6 is going to Los Pinos, where we will do street ministry. The next week we are going to a school and I will be the pre-school teacher for that week. The next week my team is going to a village for a week. We will sleep on dirt floors in a church and do whatever they need us to do. The following week we are on grounds duty. So, we stay at Zion’s Gate and do small projects, cook, clean, babysit, or anything they need us to do. Then we start the rotation over again until our time is done. Every Saturday we do soccer ministry. On Sundays we do church on the streets. So, instead of going to a church building we are taking church to the street. Then, every Tuesday and Thursday we teach and adult English class at a school down the road. We will be busy, but I am so thankful.

The other night it rained really hard and I woke up to water dripping on my face. Awesome. Flooded tent.  But our God is so good to me. I prayed that just as He calmed the storms He would also calm the rains for me. He did. It stopped raining. God is so evidently working at Zion’s Gate I just cannot believe God has blessed me with the opportunity to live with these boys for 3 months. I already am in love with each one of them. They have so much to teach me. I even started to love my tent. Still working on the whole loving ice cold showers, but I’ll come around. I think the coffee makes up for it.

Lots of love,
Thank you for all your prayers! Please, continue to pray for adjustment and open hearts and hands to do whatever God has in store for us!
